  1. What surprised me about this class is the amount of prep work that goes into cooking. It's hard to choose what foods I loved because I enjoyed everything, but in terms of lunch foods I really enjoyed and loved the eggs benedict. I also enjoyed the soul food, and the grilled lime chicken we had with Dr. Fletcher. The cupcakes were also very scrumptious!! The most memorable experience was cooking on the 3-Day trail, and the fun we had in between cooking. But overall I had a great time, and this class is one of the best classes I've had in my four years at benedict's. When I get the cookbook with the recipes from our class, I know I can see myself making the eggs benedict and the grilled lime chicken over and over again!

  2. What surprised me was teamwork I discovered the class went so smooth because everybody worked together, and got work done. I loved the apple pie it was so delicious and easy to make . Even my family wants me to bake it now!! The most memorable experience in class was going to the farm and learning different things. I can see myself baking apple pie over and over again it was so good.

  3. What surprised me the most about the class was the food was a lot easier to make than I thought. I thought it was going to be very difficult to make the foods we decided to make in the beginning of the course, but surprisingly it was not that hard. The food was also really good and it's hard to pick a favorite dish, but one of my favorite was the apple pie we made. The most memorable thing of the class was me losing in spades on the trail to Mrs. Tuorto and Mr. Rodriguez, it was a very humbling experience. All I know is a rematch is needed. The recipe I can see myself making over and over is probably the apple pie because it was so good and is not that hard to make.

  4. The one thing that surprised me the most during this class was the amount of time it took to prepare and cook the meals. Many of the things that I help my parents cook at home don’t really take all day to prepare, but I do understand that we are making a lot of food for a larger group of people. My favorite meals that we made in this project were soul food and Portuguese and Brazilian day mainly because I grew up eating that sort of food. When Dr Lang came to our class to teach us about Filipino food I learned so much about his culture just from the food they make. This was a memorable moment because I experienced something that I never believed I will experience in my life. After this project ends I can see myself making the lasagna again because it is something easy to make and you can feed a lot of people after you make it.

  5. What surprised me the most is the types of food that I actually ended up liking while in the beginning I thought I disliked. For example, the french onion soup and the lasagna. I always avoided eating onions and many vegetables but when I ate those two dishes, they really made me open my mind up to new types of food.
One of my favorite dishes is the French Onion Soup. It was so simple to make but just so rich in flavor. I can see myself making french onion soup frequently when I go back home.
Everyday was a great memory for me. I learned something new everyday and made a lot of good funny memories. I hope to visit the class one day as an alumnus and try the new types of food that class cooks. Thank you for a great spring phase!

  6. What surprised me the most was how much time goes into prepping the food. I thought originally it would be short and done with but as it turned out, alot more time comes into prepping your food so everything can be as perfect as possible for when you start your cooking. My favorite food had to be the soul food day hands down. Everything was perfect from the collars greens to the mac and cheese. The itis hit hard and Brandon was more than satisfied. The most memorable experience definitely had to be going up to the three day trail hike with our class. I loved how our whole class bonded and I believe that's what Benedict's is all about, bonding with your brothers and working together at the same time. Overall it was a very memorable experience with my now good friends and seniors that I won't be seeing next year. This class really brought me and my classmates closer together and especially during the hike and that's what matters the most to me. Lastly, a recipe I could see myself making over and over again would be the mac and cheese. It really easy to make and it's amazing to eat.

  7. I was very surprised by how we all worked efficiently as a team and how much fun we had. I honestly did not think our specific class would laugh as much as we would. I loved the soul food day especially the mac and cheese, the Filipino lumpia shanghai also was delicious, but my favorite was my own feijao tropeiro. My most memorable experience was the day we had guest chef Dr. Lansang. He taught us a lot of tips and tricks and the food was wonderful. I can see myself just baking trays and trays of the mac' and cheese because I just like it that much.
